Shake it like a polaroid picture.

Hiiii everyone!

Yesterday was an amaaaazing day. I had breakfast with two of my best friends, I did the photoshoot for the new play of Teater De Schizo’s, I had sushi, I went to an amazing party and I learned how to make COCKTAILS.

We followed a workshop at Miraeus Cocktails in Antwerp and it was awesome. We had this super nice instructor, ‘cocktailman Sam’. He’s a young motivated guy who really knows what he’s doing.

We made two cocktails; the ‘Berry Interesting’ and the ‘Espresso Martini’. Two delicious cocktails that are quite easy to make. We all had our own set of equipment and everything looked super professional.

We started of with the Berry Interesting. A cocktail that is quite sweet and sour. It’s perfect for summer or spring.

What do you need?

  • A glass (obviously)
  • A jigger
  • A spoon
  • raspberries
  • caster sugar
  • gin
  • syrup
  • a lime
  • ice
  • something to crush the raspberries with

First you take about 4-5 raspberries and you crush them in your glass together with a teaspoon of the caster sugar until you get a liquid structure.

Then you fill up your glass with ice and add 4 cl of Gin, 3 cl of freshly squeezed lime juice and 2 cl of syrup.

Then you just stir until everything’s mixed up and tadaaaaaaa! It’s finished!

Next up is the espresso martini! Legend says that it was Marilyn Monroe who came up with this cocktail. She asked the bartender for a drink that would first wake her up and then fuck her up. And that’s how this delicious drink came to life.

What do you need?

  • coffee
  • ice
  • vodka
  • syrup
  • coffee beans
  • ice
  • a martini glass
  • a shaker

This one’s also fairly easy to make. You put 4 cl of vodka, 4 cl of coffee and 2 cl of syrup in the shaker and then you fill up the shaker with ice. Then you just SHAKE. You shake up until the point where you can’t feel your hands anymore because the shaker is so damned cold with all the ice inside.

Then you take of the little top part of the shaker and pour it in your glass. If you shook it long enough there should be a nice foamy layer on top of your cocktail. Then you just finish it off with a few coffee beans and you’re done.

If you love coffee, you will looooove this cocktail. It’s like a frappuccino but with alcohol. THAT’S LIKE EVERYTHING I NEED IN LIFE.

Oh, by the way! you can make the syrup yourself! just heat up 1 liter of water with 2 kg of sugar and keep it just under the boiling point. (Just a little random side note)

After you’ve made the cocktails, you can enjoy them by the fireplace while some soothing jazz is playing. It makes you feel like you’re really fancy and stuff. I like that.

They’re also available for events and they also do tastings!
