I hope everyone had a good new year’s eve and that you started 2017 with a bang! Since one of the things I want to do in 2017 is get a new tattoo together with my brother, I thought I’d show you the beauties I already have. I will also tell you how much I spent on each one so that if you’re thinking of getting a tattoo you have an idea of the cost of it.
First up is the first tattoo I ever got. I was 20 years old and I just got out of a relationship with a very controlling boyfriend and I’d wanted a tattoo for quite some time but he didn’t want me to. So a week after we broke up I made my appointment at ‘Never settle for less tattoos’ in Ghent (which is by the way an amazing shop).
My first tattoo was a butterfly because I think butterflies are gorgeous and I’d had some butterflies in Henna on my body over the years so I knew I loved the look of it. I decided to put it on the back of my neck so that if I eventually didn’t like it all that much I wouldn’t have to look at it every day.
And this was the result! To this day I’m still super happy with it!
(This one cost me 70 euros)
For my second tattoo I waited a while because I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t just getting a second tattoo because I liked the first one so much but because I just really wanted a second tattoo. We were planning a trip to Thailand and I decided that a new tattoo could be the perfect souvenir. So before I went there I did my research and found a few good shops in Bangkok. The one I eventually chose was called ‘Inkception’ because a Belgian guy who worked at our hotel recommended it.
It was also my birthday during that holiday and my brother has the tradition to buy me something for my birthday on holiday. This year though we were struggling to find me the perfect gift. So then he suggested he gave me a small tattoo. And the rest is history as they say. I got a small triangle on my wrist (just because I think triangles are pretty. No further meaning there)
(This one cost me 35 euros)
My next tattoo followed pretty quickly. I came back from Thailand and a few weeks later I sent ‘Never settle for less’ a message to ask if they had an opening in the next few months. He replied that I could come by the next day because someone had cancelled their appointment. I already had an idea in my mind. I had seen a picture of someone with a heartbeat tattoo and I started to wonder if a sound wave might look cool. I started to try some things out and as a result I now have a sound wave of me saying ‘Hakuna Matata’ on my arm. (I LOVE DISNEY)
(This one cost me 50 euros)
A few months later it started to tingle again and I felt my skin was still kinda missing something and since I’m a huge shakespeare fan I started thinking shakespeare quotes. ‘All the world’s a stage’ is the quote that suits me the most. I’m an actress, singer, dancer… I just love being on stage. It’s also a reference to people wearing a ‘mask’ everyday and I just think that really shows how strong Shakespeare’s words were and still are. The man was a genius. I got this one at ‘Bodydesign’ in Ghent which is a great shop but it’s also really expensive. You can expect to walk out with a perfect tattoo but you’ll have to spend some money.
(This one cost me 125 euros)
The last tattoo so far I got in Miami. I wanted a souvenir from my trip to sunny Florida and that’s why I decided to get the sun as a tattoo. I went to ‘Salvation tattoos’ because literally everyone recommended this shop. It’s a great shop and the people were super super nice!
(This cost me 75 euros)
For my next tattoo I still have no idea whatsoever. So if you guys have an idea, shoot!
