Hi lovely people!
This week I made some delicious donuts and in this post I’ll show you how to make them.
First of all you need a recipe. This is the one I used. This is for approximately 30 donuts.
- 10 gr dried yeast
- 60 ml tepid water
- 250 ml milk
- 3 ts sugar
- 100 gr melted butter
- 575 gr flour
- 3 eggs
- frying oil (and of course a frying pan)
- A big donut-shaped cutter and a small one
Mix the yeast, water, milk and one tablespoon of the sugar and set this mix apart for about 10 minutes. The mix will start foaming a bit when the yeast is activated.
After ten minutes you can mix the yeast mix with the butter, flour, eggs and the rest of the sugar. Knead the dough on a flour-covered surface. (So it doesn’t stick to your mom’s precious kitchen.) Then you put the dough in an oil covered bowl and cover it up with a kitchen towel and let it set for about 45 min. The dough should have doubled in volume by then.
After 45 min. you take the dough out and knead it until it’s elastic.
Roll out the dough until it’s about 1 cm thick. Then use the cutters to cut out your donuts. Put them on a baking paper and cover them up again with a kitchen towel. Let them set for another 30 minutes.
Heat up the frying pan at 180 degrees and then bake the donuts on both sides until they’re gold brown. Let them rest on a paper napkin so you get rid of the excess oil.
Now we can start decorating! The fun thing with donuts is that you can do whatever the hell you want! So go crazy!
I went with a sugar and chocolate icing and chocolate sprinkles.
For the chocolate glaze I just used chocolate drops that I melted. For the sugar icing you just add a little bit of water to powder sugar and any colour you want.
Tadaaaaaaa! Don’t they look pretty?
I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know if you tried the recipe out!
